Anyone replace stock with black trail teams?
Found out I can replace all the stock silver stuff with black. Anyone else do that? Cost? Pics?

to be done on mine in the very near future.... |
Painting would be substantially cheaper. Replacing the actual parts is a multi-hundred dollar endeavor. Painting, a fun day's work, and idunno, $20?

What i can't figure out, is he how he taped up the lights on the mirrors.
|
And additionally, why the need for sandpaper?
|
tape and a razor. tape over the lens, making sure to press it deep into the corners of the lens, getting complete coverage. then slowly take a razor and go around the outside edge of the lens and you'll end up with just the lens covered with tape.

when painting just about anything you need to rough it up slightly. the primer will adhere much better if it has something grab onto. you don't want a low grit paper, something high, proabably like 300grit or higher. just enough to give it a "rough" texture.

Thanks, man! Appreciate it!!

No problem. I need to paint my sideviews, and door handles, but I'm going to wait till it isn't 100*+ outside.
|
I'll prob do mine soon. Weather has settled down here, plus I can do it in my garage, which is dry.
|
It's relatively dry here, it's just hot steamy, like a good turd, outside.
|
Ha! I hate humidity!!

Got mine done this weekend ... i think it looks really good. Just can't see the paint holding up against rock chips etc. I may go full scale trail teams upgrade next year on blacking things out. Depends on what my bumper and everything look like. I'd rather replace all the parts once and call it a day... not have to repeatedly repaint it all the time.
Next sizeable upgrade I'm looking at are sunroof, surf rack for top, and new ruins and tires. Pics will go up shortly. |

right on right on.
|
For some reason, my rear bumper has a slight downwards tilt, which I don't understand cause it's almost entirely bolted from the top. Most snap attachments are at the top also it was assembled the same way it was taken apart.
