So what types of interior mods have people done?
Anything good?
|
All I've done thus far is, husky liners and dvd headrests. I'm looking to in the future do a rear door mount, like an MPAC rack.
|
Husky liners in the front and middle... FJ All-Weather in the back... I just picked up a set of Toyota All-Weather's for the front... Found em on craigslist for 80 bones! Booya! I also got a sweet set of shift knobs... Man do I need to upgrade my sound system... this has to be the worst sound system I've ever seen... My 95 Toyota Tercel had a better sound system and that thing MSRP'd at 9k... WTF
|
I think my sound system is fine. But then again, I'm not one of those guys who picks it apart. Growing up, my folks were not rich at all, and they had a POS that had only one working speaker. Worked fine for me. So I'm easily impressed I guess.
|
Do you have the upgraded sound system with 8 or 9 speakers or the basic one with 2.5?
|
I've got the FJammer with sub and I like it a lot. I think it is the best sounding stereo I have had in a car off the lot. But like the Cap'n, I'm not an audiophile.
I think the only interior mod I have done is swapping out the knobs for the Ellis Precision knobs. Those fuckers will give you frostbite in the winter. I want to put in some extra 12v power outlets but I am a bit electrically challenged. I'm thinking of going for it anyway. Also would like a scanguage or that other one that is half the price. |
To my knowledge I have the upgraded. I have the 6disk Fjammer. I do not have the subwoofer option, not that I care, I like having that cubby hole there anyway. I would go count the speakers, but my brother in borrowed the FJ to go out of town. It's been a hard few days.

This is the only interior mod pic I have. Ellis Precision (Joel) OH Shit handles. Also have his shifter knobs and FJC on the back door in place of the chrome. And yes they almost freeze your hands to them when you touch them this time of year. But I like cold things in my hands. :driver: I've got to take more pics of this beast. |

He's a young fellow in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Joel Ellis is his name.. He works as a machinist and has his own little shop that he does great work out of. He's also a forum vendor on the blue room website. Link to his website is above. |
Never heard a bad word about ellis precision.

Would be interested in adding him as a site vendor once we get rolling here...

Seatbelt mod
Cheapest mod so far!
So the seatbelts in the back were a pain in the butt because it was pretty much a two-handed job to get them clicked. I've seen others put a rubber tube, sliced along one side, around it to add some structural integrity. What I've done is use a rubber door sill protector, zip-tied, and then wrapped with black gorilla tape to protect the seats from the zip-ties. Now the kids and others who sit in the back don't get frustrated with getting the seatbelts done up. Pics..... http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...0517-00067.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...0517-00068.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...0517-00069.jpg |

i like it! haha i remember those damn things they were a sloppy flop job trying to get them buckled. mine were usually tucked under the seat anyway that was my other annoyance.
|
^^^you said "sloppy flop job"
|
Best part is, the 5 year old now knows the seatbelts are "fixed" so she can do up her own seatbelt. :)

As far as interior modifications go, I have done a few. Heated leather seats with the FJ logo sewn into the back of the front seats that match the sun fusion paint, Tonka logos on the interior of the doors, cargo nets on the back hatch, and a full round of tint for the windows.
