Default Question about performance programmers...

I am having a lot of problem trying to find a good programmer for my FJ. I can find standard monitors, but no real programmers. I stopped by a local 4x4 shop today to ask them about it. The only thing that they could find was a system that would require me to send the computer from my vehicle to the factory for modification. That is not even possible. The guy at the store thought that Toyotas don't have aftermarket programmers due to a really locked down OEM system computer.

So, does anyone have any information on a programmer or information on the factory settings for the engine? In two weeks, I will have the TRD cold air intake and cat-back exhaust installed. I would like to make sure that I get the most bang for my bucks with a good programmer. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

well, I can't say for sure but since TRD does sell a superchager for the FJ, then there must be tuning software for it. If you find a shop that installs TRD SC's then they will likely have a program to flash the computer and dial in the A/F ratio, throttle, timing, shifting, etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks Birdman. It helps a little. I haven't found a supercharger for the 2012 FJ, yet. It may be that there just isn't any available right now.

I did get the cold air intake and exhaust installed today. I had the dealer do it so that there can be no question of warranties and such.

I am very happy with the outcome. Not quite a drop you into the back seat when you hit the gas vehicle, but much better than it was.
